ELSIE SHARON GILUK has been teaching Science and Mathematics at secondary schools in Sabah, North Borneo since 1992. Her students’ ranges from 13 to 17 years old. She has taught in both rural and urban schools. Elsie is an active member of the school’s innovation unit; she has assisted her students in innovation projects that have won medals in state, national and international levels. She is also an active member of her parish education committee, where she has played a role in promoting consistent and effective parental involvement in children faith formation.
She will be based at school of education at a U. S. university from Jan 2014 till May 2014. She will have the opportunity to take university classes and seminars, share and discuss teaching best practises with colleagues of different teaching background. This ILEP program will ensure rewarding academic experience and exposure to the rich American culture. JENNIFER R. JOVITA has been teaching for the 17 years handling various subjects related to Science and Computer Literacy. She has been teaching in a science oriented secondary school in which students range in age from 12-17 years old. Aside from her teaching loads, Jenny is also the Computer Laboratory In-Charge, School’s ICT Coordinator and the Class Adviser of Grade 8 Linnaeus. She is a graduate of BS-Biology from the University of the Philippines-Cebu and Masters of Arts in Science Teaching from Saint Paul University Surigao. She is a full time working mother to two grade school boys and she is happily married to a police officer. MARISOL D. ANDRADA has been teaching Science at SANHS for the past 17 years. Her students range in age fro 15 to 17 years old. On average, there are 40 students in her class. She is an active member in the Parent-Teacher Association and she promotes effective parental involvement in student education. She is also the School Science Coordinator, YES-O Moderator and Year Level Chairman. Marisol received a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Bicol University College of Education in 1996 and Master’s Degree in 2000. She is happily married to a Special Education Teacher and blessed with three young grade schoolers. MOLLYDEAN ZONG BUNTUYA is from Tongo in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region, Ghana. She is a teacher of social studies in the school she graduated (Bolgatanga senior high school). She attended University of Education Winneba and university of Cape Coast and was awarded a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Social Studies and M.A in Governance and sustainable development respectively. She is a fellow in ILEP (International Leaders in Education Program) in Arizona State University.
Mollydean has served as a resource person in training enumerators for the 2010 population and housing census in Ghana, social studies teachers and national service volunteers posted to the teaching field in her District. She is a sociable person and can even sacrifice her personal interest for friendship because she cherishes being in cordial relationship with others. Gender equity is important to her and for that matter she strongly support female education, which is lacking behind in her area. Her wish is to champion the course of girls, particularly their education as a way of enhancing the fight against poverty in general and gendered poverty in particular in Ghana, for them to performance as their male counterparts if not more than their male counterparts. This would enable them to contribute meaningfully to themselves and society as a whole. |
